It's official -- Hannah is day trained and is wearing big girl underwear! Whew!!
I finally made good on my vow a couple of weeks ago to transition Hannah to regular underwear to complete her potty training process. She and Jessie were both getting very lazy about pottying (Jessie still is), so I finally mentally prepared myself for Hannah's transition to big girl underwear and went for it. It went much better than I expected!
Her first day, she had several accidents and went through several pairs of underwear AND shorts (so much so that I bought a couple more pairs of shorts for fear of running out before I could get the dirty ones washed!), but the second day was considerably less, and third even more so. After three days, she got the hang of peeing on the potty with only minor accidents. After five days, she was only having pooping accidents. Finally, a few days ago, we had a long talk after one of her accidents, and I made her dump her poop out of her diaper into the potty. We did that again the next day, too. Yesterday, she finally pooped on the potty and was accident free the whole day! It wasn't a fluke, because she did it again today. I'm so proud of my little girl!!!!! Of course, we called all the grandparents last night to share the good news.
Next up: Jessie. I have a feeling she's going to be more difficult to train. Here lately, she hasn't really even tried to use the potty, so I'm not sure if this will go well. Either she gets it or she goes back into diapers -- pull-ups are way too expensive to be using as a diaper!
Zach still has potty moments, but I'm just letting him go when he feels like it. So far, he hasn't had any success, but he has all the motions down -- even the hand washing! Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised when I finally focus my training efforts on him!
To celebrate Hannah's success, we all went to Wal-Mart with the intention of buying Hannah a toy as a reward. Unfortunately, Greg and I had to cave into the other two and buy them toys just so he and I could get back home with our sanity intact! They were also treated to homemade chocolate shakes. Today, Hannah got a special sticker for her effort.
So next is Jessie. I only hope I am pleasantly surprised when I start putting her in big girl underwear!
