Mother's Day came and went like any other day. I can't wait for the day when my kids will surprise me with a card they made or bought or with a present they made. A day off or a day made a little easier would be nice, too. Oh wait! How about breakfast in bed? Even better, how about a day to just sleep in?
Maybe one day in the future. This year I got a lot of little hugs and kisses all day long from my three little wonders. I also know that I have some stepping stones for my flower beds that daddy will be making for me with the kids.
I also received a Mother's Day card from my dad, and he also called and wished me a Happy Mother's Day. I received a Mother's Day kiss and hug from my hubby. I also received an e-card from Mom-Mom. I was not acknowledged in any way by my mom, and that was pretty disappointing.
I loved the card and phone call from my dad, and it meant a lot to me receiving the e-card from Sue. The fact that Greg and I were able to find a couple minutes in the day where we could hug and kiss is treasured because it's not often that those little moments happen anymore. And most important of all, I loved all the little hugs and kisses from my three little ones. I just can't get enough of those!
Our day was a day like every other day. The kids were a little tired and grumpy since we'd traveled the day before to Amy's house to celebrate mom's birthday and mother's day with her and grandma, but we made the most of it. They took a great nap, which allowed me time outdoors to fill our bird feeders, finish planting annuals in my container pots on the deck and patio, and to finish up laundry. The sun was shining, the weather was nice enough to have the windows open, and we were all home together being a family.
Even though I may have to wait a few more years for Zach, Hannah and Jessie to "get" Mother's Day, I take great pride in being their mom and hope that I am doing the best that I can for them.
