Grandma and Grandpa Wilkins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past Saturday, February 7. Family and friends gathered at the clubhouse here in our subdivision to honor Clyde and Rose and their 50 years of wedded bliss.
Sharon, Stephanie and I worked together to plan a "Campy Luau" reception. We decorated the clubhouse in a Hawaiian theme using colored lanterns, inflatable palm trees, leis, paper pineapples, a Tiki god, hibiscus and orchid flowers, and grass skirts. There are a few pictures of the clubhouse before everyone showed up that give a good view of how things looked. Kingsleys and Chef Sharon and her husband Chef Mike catered the event.
50s music played to help commemorate the occasion while everyone socialized and ate and watched the kids dance. Stephanie had rounded up several old family photos showing Clyde and Rose in their early days pre-family and then several of all the kids over the years. She compiled all the photos into a slide show which was shown at the reception. It got a lot of laughs and brought back a lot of memories for everyone there. Steph did an excellent job putting the show together.
Dennis gave a warm, heartfelt toast to honor mom and dad, and then it was cake time. Jessie, true to form, ate the icing and left the cake. She's such a sugar-holic!
Congratulations, grandma and grandpa! We love you!!!!
